NPP’s Gov’t: A case of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

By Fadi Dabbousi

Seven months on and the opposition NPP is in the grips of satan, shredding the elephant for being a more devious devil. Nonetheless, we have a legacy of greatness that still shines amidst the dung that we have covered ourselves in and the pride of achievement in spite of the shortcomings of many who had sought to destroy His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and some great people he associated with.
Yesterday, I heard of the fantastic news of the appointment of Kojo Choi as Ghana’s Ambassador designate to his home country of South korea. I was very happy that Ghana has taken this formidable step to break the jinx of ethnic, tribal, and discriminatory barriers. So I wrote a post to congratulate the gentleman and President Mahama on this fantastic political feat. I juxtaposed this appointment to my experience in the early days of our NPP government. The whole post was not on based on whether anyone helped me, did anything for me or not, or opened heaven’s gates for me. The President chastised them for clapping for me when I was in the trenches and in prison while they opposed my appointment based on race and creed.
That said, those who reported to him that I am vilifying him on social media are the same people who have hurt many NPP persons like me. Anyway, I want to put on record that as an NPP person, I was ill-treated and lied to by many…so many of my peeps. Had it not been for President Nana Akufo-Addo and the venerable Chief of Staff, Frema Akosua Osei Opare (aka Mummy), things would have gone terribly wrong. So, yes, the submission in my facebook post was absolutely true. Nana Akufo-Addo is neither a liar nor a deceitful friend, who says one thing and does the opposite. He tells it as it is right in your face. He never lied to me! I reckon he was finding a way around the stiff opposition to my appointment, which frustration he vented out, and which I declined later on for the general peace.
Now, here is where the problem was; the oligarchs and so-called “nwhiwh3mo” people who feigned and faked love for him just to suit their own parochial interests. The devil has yet to wake up from the stupor suffered it by the heinous lies that they peddled. Whooosh, my goodness! I remember, as the years faded away, the fourth floor became inaccessible except if you kissed a certain butt that made there its resting place. So to see the President, one had to find their way to the Villa for a not-so-private dash-in-dash-out hello-how-are-you see-you-later sort of meeting. In all that, he kept faith with people he loved and all those that were lucky to have found a way to see him.

Those that used my post as an opportunity to castigate Nana Akufo-Addo in spite of their relevance in his government using pseudo facebook accounts, shame on you! My post was only an innocent submission to draw attention to what we need to do better next time. It is no secret that Akufo-Addo is everything to me. Alas, I reckon that I am the NPP equivalent of Koku Anyidoho for his selfless dedication to His Excellency late President John Evans Atta-Mills.
My facebook post triggered a national dialogue, I reckon, and I am very glad to have made it. It exposed the idiots who happily walked around with appointments and contracts at the time, but are, now, claiming to have been set aside. They ate from his plate and spat in it. I know one Staffer at Jubilee House, who bought a white range rover just a few months into our government, yet sits on social media to accuse others of having gotten favours more than those that got appointments.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo fed everybody. Minsters and appointees came to him to solve their problems, when they were “nobody” in opposition and when they turned rogue in government. They did that to show innocence in their attempt to cover up their misdeeds. Maybe, his best most significant appointment was the Chief of Staff. She was one person who never dipped her hands into the national coffers to sort anyone out.
Many were the kind of “y3n3woserekwa” and that brings credence to the Lebanese adage, “They kill their victims and attend their funerals!” As far as I am concerned, I make this statement that if Nana should leave to eternity before me, I prefer to remain loyal to his bones than frolic with witches and wizards who cannot understand why any person other than their rotten souls should benefit and live a dignified life. We shall protect the legacy of His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and all those who helped make his tenure a memorable one, including Hon Madama Akosua Frema Osei Opare!
The ELEPHANT shall be back stronger than ever with ME as its TRUNK
