Oti Region Set for Agricultural and Economic Transformation, President Mahama Unveils Strategic Development Plan

President of the Republic of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama has outlined a comprehensive economic development strategy for the Oti Region, focusing on agricultural innovation and infrastructure development during his “Thank you Tour” address in Dambai today, Friday, 25th July, 2025.
Agricultural Transformation:
“Agriculture is not a job of last resort. Agriculture is now a business of first choice, and we are going to make it viable, productive and rewarding for the young people who decide to invest in it,” the President declared.
Key Agricultural Initiatives:
– 7,200 hectares of irrigated lands to be developed
– Targeted municipalities: Biakoye and Krachi East
– “The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is on the ground conducting feasibility studies and preparing for implementation,” he stated.
Economic Infrastructure:
The President emphasized the region’s strategic economic potential: “Oti region is a key transit zone for food and goods from the north to the south, and it deserves focus and targeted investments.”
Water and Economic Development:
A critical water infrastructure project will benefit approximately 70,000 people, with the President noting, “The Damanco Kpassa water system project is estimated to cost almost 40 million cedis and will be completed within 18 months.”
Investment in Local Governance:
“We work tirelessly to complete this project and ensure that the people of these districts and entire Oti region have access to safe, clean and reliable drinking water,” He assured.
