125 Years of Excellence: Obuasi Methodist Primary School Celebrates Milestone

Obuasi Methodist Primary School marked a significant milestone on July 23, 2025, with the 5th Graduation Ceremony and the formal commissioning of its newly renovated school block, as part of its 125th-anniversary celebrations.

The event was held at the Obuasi Methodist Primary School premises and was a testament to the school’s commitment to providing quality education and creating an enabling environment for young learners to thrive.

The Headmistress of the KG and Primary A, Mrs. Theresa Boadi in her speech, underscored the enduring service to the community and the commissioning of the renovated school block.

She extended heartfelt appreciation to the churches, institutions, and dedicated old students for their unwavering support, emphasizing that the revitalized school block stands as a powerful testament to their love and commitment.

The Headmistress also acknowledged parents for their steadfast support and dedication, assuring them that their trust in the school is deeply valued.

She lauded the hard work and dedication of the teachers and staff, urging the graduating students to continue their pursuit of knowledge and embody the values instilled in them.

Finally, she issued a collective call to action, urging everyone to work together to ensure the school remains a center of excellence.

*Graduation Ceremony*

A total of 85 students graduated, comprising KG2 students transitioning to Primary 1, Primary 3 students moving to Primary 4, and Primary 6 students moving to JHS 1.

The outgoing prefect, Miss Stella Brempong, delivered a speech full of gratitude and advice to the incoming prefects, highlighting the importance of leadership and teamwork.

Speaking on behalf of The Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Wilfred Obeng, addressed a common misconception about kindergarten, clarifying its integral role in the mainstream education system.

He commended the students on their academic progress, encouraged them to persevere, and urged teachers to commit fully to their roles.

He also made a strong appeal to parents, stressing the need to prioritize and invest in their children’s education, highlighting the crucial role parents play in their children’s academic journey.

*The new school block*

In an interview, Mrs. Theresah Boadi detailed how the renovated school block was successfully funded through diverse fundraising efforts, garnering support from churches, institutions, individuals, and old students.

She highlighted significant challenges facing the school, including the deteriorated condition of the Junior High School (JHS) block and the pressing shortage of adequate desks for students. She stressed the critical need for external support to address these challenges and improve the learning environment.
