Ato Forson is really forcing, but some Ghanaians are wicked for not reducing prices – Yaw Barimah, PRO of True Drivers Association

Yaw Barimah, the Public Relations Officer of the True Drivers Association, has praised Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, for his performance in stabilizing the economy, particularly the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.

However, he expressed frustration with sections of the Ghanaian public, especially traders and service providers, for refusing to reduce prices despite the improved exchange rate.

Speaking on Kessben FM Accra,  Yaw Berimah said“Ato Forson is really doing well. Since he came, we’ve seen signs of economic stability. The dollar has dropped, and that’s a big deal. But some Ghanaians are just wicked, prices are still high. No one is reducing anything.

“When the dollar was rising, everybody increased their prices and blamed the exchange rate. Now that the dollar has gone down, they’re pretending they can’t see. That’s not fair.

“We all want a better Ghana, but it can’t be one-sided. If the dollar goes down and prices don’t follow, then we’re not being sincere as a people”

While the government has touted recent gains, including the cedi’s appreciation and slowing inflation,  many Ghanaians say prices of food, transport, rent, and basic goods remain stubbornly high.

He pointed specifically to the market where prices that were adjusted upward due to currency depreciation have not been revised despite recent gains
