If you’re looking for a political party that does tribal politics in this country, it’s the NPP – Hussein Ibrahim

Hussein Ibrahim, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team, boldly accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of promoting tribal politics in Ghana.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Kessben TV’s Adwenkyere, Hussein Ibrahim didn’t hold back, describing the NPP as the number one party in doing tribal politics.

Ibrahim alleged that the NPP has historically used tribal narratives to divide voters and gain political advantage in certain regions.

While he didn’t cite specific instances during the broadcast, he suggested that the party often frames its messaging to appeal to ethnic loyalties rather than focusing solely on national development and policy

Tribalism has long been a sensitive topic in Ghana’s political landscape. While the country is often hailed as a beacon of democracy in Africa, political campaigns have at times seen subtle, and occasionally overt, appeals to ethnic identity.

Both the NDC and NPP have faced accusations over the years of fanning tribal sentiments during election seasons.
