Betway Delivers Solar-Powered Solution to Tackle Power Challenges in Ballagonnor

Betway has o,icially handed over two (2) fully installed Power
Up units to the people of Ballagonnor, located in the Danchira Electoral Area of the Ga South
Municipality, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing commitment to community development and
sustainable energy inclusion.
Since its inception in Ghana, Betway, a leading global sports betting brand, has consistently
supported local communities through donations, health support drives and social development
programmes. The Power Up initiative, delivered under the Betway Cares umbrella as part of the
company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, marks another impactful milestone in
this ongoing e,ort.
Power Up is Betway Ghana’s flagship CSR initiative aimed at empowering disadvantaged
communities with access to solar-powered infrastructure that supports basic energy needs,
connectivity, and digital connectivity. The initiative is designed to bridge gaps in electricity and
digital access by delivering purpose-built hubs equipped with mobile charging ports and lighting.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Hon. Ahorter Ebenezer, Assemblyman for the Danchira
Electoral Area, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community “This intervention is timely and
impactful. These solar units will enhance the lives of residents, especially those who rely on
mobile connectivity and digital tools for everyday needs.”
Kwabena Oppong-Nkrumah, Country Manager – Marketing at Betway Ghana, added “With Power
Up, we are going beyond entertainment to provide real, lasting solutions. At Betway, we believe
access to power and connectivity should not be a privilege but a necessity. This is part of our
broader vision to promote sustainable energy inclusion and create meaningful, communitybased impact across Ghana.”
The event brought together traditional leaders, district authorities, residents, and media. Channel
One TV, which first spotlighted the challenges faced by the Ballagonnor community, was present
to witness the impact of the initiative and engage with community members.
With more Power Up installations planned in rural Ghana, Betway continues to play a pivotal role
in transforming lives and bridging infrastructure gaps, one community at a time through the
Betway Cares Initiative.
