Cocoa farmers to get 70% of world market price – President Mahama promises

President John Dramani Mahama has promised to pay 70% of the worldwide market price for cocoa, ensuring that farmers receive a more equitable portion of global prices.
During his “Thank You” tour in the Western North Region, Mr. Mahama spoke to the crowd and recognized the various difficulties that farmers encounter, such as poor pricing, insufficient extension services, and delays in the delivery of necessary cocoa inputs.
“The people of this region are the backbone of Ghana’s cocoa production,” he said.
“But I’m aware of the hardship our cocoa farmers face low prices, inadequate extension services, and delays in the distribution of cocoa input. We will ensure our commitment to pay our farmers 70% of the world market price for cocoa.
“Under the new leadership of the Ghana Cocoa Board, priority will be given to the distribution of improved seeds, regular extension support, and proper compensation for rehabilitated cocoa farms,” Mr Mahama said.
