We (NPP) need a disciplined party to produce a president, not a flagbearer – Hon Yaw Patrick Boamah

Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okai Kwei Central, has called for deep introspection and structural reform within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on Kessben FM in Accra, Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah stated plainly that the NPP needs more than just a flagbearer, it needs a disciplined and united party machinery to regain the confidence of the Ghanaian electorate.
According to Boamah, the party’s focus on personalities and individual ambitions, rather than building a solid, united front with shared values and discipline, was a fatal mistake.
He stressed that simply selecting a flagbearer without ensuring party-wide cohesion, strategic focus, and commitment to national development would no longer be enough in Ghana’s evolving political climate.
The MP’s remarks come amid ongoing post-election analysis within the NPP, with various senior figures and grassroots members alike calling for a reset of party structures and attitudes. There have been rising calls for healing internal rifts, investing in grassroots organization, and prioritizing policy over politics.
