Igbo Leader in Ghana Sets Record Straight on Land Acquisition Claims

The Igbo Leader in Ghana, Eze Ohazurume I of Ndigbo, has issued a statement to clarify allegations surrounding the acquisition of land in Ningo, Greater Accra Region, for the purpose of establishing an “Igbo Village.”
No Land Acquisition
The statement, signed by Ronney Gogo, Head of Communications at the Eze Igbo Palace Ghana, categorically denies the acquisition of 50 acres of land or any other land in Ningo or elsewhere in Ghana for the purpose of creating an “Igbo Village.” The allegations, circulating on social media, are described as misinformation.
Background
The statement explains that the claims likely stem from an interview granted to Crystal TV in 2013, where plans to acquire land were discussed. However, these plans never materialized due to issues surrounding the rightful ownership of the land, leading to their cancellation in 2014.
Commitment to Ghanaian Laws and Culture
The Igbo Leader, a resident of Ghana since 1995 and married to a Ghanaian businesswoman, has expressed deep respect for Ghanaian culture and laws. The statement reassures that the Igbo community has no intention of engaging in activities that would undermine the strong relationship between the Igbo people and the Ghanaian community.
Clarification
The Eze Igbo Palace Ghana reiterates that no land has been acquired for the purpose of establishing an “Igbo Village” in Ghana. The statement aims to set the record straight and dispel misinformation circulating on social media.
