NACOC and FDA Bust Illegal Cannabis Liqueur Operation in Offinso

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have successfully raided an illegal cannabis-infused alcoholic beverage production site in Offinso, Ashanti Region. The operation was carried out by a joint team of four NACOC officers and three FDA officials at a two-bedroom house concealed within a poultry farm at Ntiribuoho.
Key Findings:
Seized Substances: Unapproved drinks and suspected narcotic substances, including cannabis, were confiscated from the scene.
Arrests: One suspect was arrested, while others are still on the run.
Product: The operation targeted the illegal production of cannabis-infused alcoholic beverages popularly known as Famude or Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.
Background:
This is not the first time NACOC and FDA have cracked down on the production and distribution of unlicensed and potentially harmful substances. In April 2025, a similar operation was conducted at Jachie Abidjan Nkwanta, where law enforcement agents discovered parcels and bags of dried marijuana and labelling materials for Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.
Authorities’ Response:
The FDA and NACOC have pledged to intensify efforts to clamp down on the production and distribution of unlicensed and potentially harmful substances in the public domain. This joint operation demonstrates their commitment to protecting public health and safety.
