Raise Your Voices Against Galamsey—Dr Yaw Adutwum Charges Academia At CAUC Graduation

Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has rallied persons in academia to take interest in the call to end environmental degradation including “galamsey” in the country.
Speaking at the 10th graduation ceremony of the Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC) at Kwadaso, Dr Adutwum said the voices in academia was urgently needed to make government realise how essential environmental illegal mining was curbed at all costs.
Dr Adutwum stated the seriousness academia attaches to issues has always been useful since their analysis are borne out of deep research and findings.
“I urge members of academia to let your voices be heard in the issue of galamsey since Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC) is so concerned about the need for the country to keep the environment green and sustainable at all times”, Dr Adutwum stated.
Admonition:
Dr Adutwum also charged the graduating students to use the knowledge they had acquired at CAUC to serve at any place they find as workplace.
He encouraged them to keep to the values CAUC had imbibed in them and cause a positive change in the society.
Guest of Honour:
Reverend Professor Edward Appiah, former Director at National Curriculum Outfit (NACCA) and special guest at the graduation ceremony, earlier charged Ghanaian universities to model environmental protection methods to sustain same.
He noted that keeping the environment green and tidy at all times had unimaginable benefits to the country and its citizens.
Professor Appiah also called on government to initiate policies and programs that would ensure the safety of the people and the environment.
“I am so much enthused about the measures CAUC has on its own as a faith-based outfit begun to sustain its environment as well as the community it is located and I urge that others learn from the green revolution mindset they have so that together we can help to reduce the pollution and environmental degradation resulting from illegal mining and deforestation”, Prof Appiah stated.
President of CAUC:
Addressing the graduands and the gathering, Prof Geoffrey Emi-Reynolds, President of CAUC thanked the Church for the investments it has churned into making the university function seamlessly and flawlessly.
He noted that despite the challenges confronting the university, CAUC has been able to use its internally generated funds (IGF) to cater for pressing needs including academic and non-academiv issues.
Giving details, the President said 253 students were graduating 🎓 in the school’s 10th edition.
He noted that 44 were graduating with bachelor honours 🎖, 71 with diplomas and 38 were getting certificates.
Giving a breakdown of their performances, Prof Emi-Reynolds said 32 persons had first class honours 🎖, 78 with second class upper honours, 45 with second class lower grade, 23 with 3rd class honours, 57 with pass grades while six (6) persons attained distinctions.
