Amputee soccer regional tour to kick start from 4th October to 3rd December, 2025

As part of the activities to mark this year’s celebration of the National Disability Day, Talent Hour for Persons with Disabilities (TH4D), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has launched the Amputee Soccer regional tour at a ceremony in Accra.

The occasion was organized by TH4D aimed at creating opportunities for persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to showcase their skills and talents in the fields of amputee soccer through transformation of disability sports.

The tour will kick start from 4th of October and climax on 3rd of December, 2025 with foreign based players in the 6 regional capitals of the country and forms part of the effort to change the narrative surrounding PWDs in the fields of soccer and disability sports.

Speaking at the media launched on the theme, “Ability in Disability – We can do it through your support”, “The Founder of TH4D, who doubles as the Treasure for Ghana Amputee League Clubs Association, Mr. Samuel Obeng Ansah said his outfit was the first to organized the tournament in 2018.

He said disability is not inability and explained that every person has talented skills, adding that with the requisite support their opportunities and potentials can be discovered, saying is the driving force behind the Amputee Soccer Regional tour.

He however urged corporate institutions to invest in the upcoming regional tour to help unearth the soccer potentials in PWDs to enable them contribute their quota towards the growth and development of disability sports across the country.

In a statement read on her behalf, the Executive Director of the National Council of PWDs, Madam Esther Gyamfi said amputee soccer have gain global recognition and the needed resources will be provided to support the team.

The President of National Paralympic Committee, Mr. Samson Deen applauded the initiative saying, the committee will support in the area of administration, technical and other protocols to leverage disability sports.

Captain of the Ghana National Amputee Football team, Richard Arthur Opentil urged government and corporate bodies to adequately support amputee soccer for development and growth.
