Suspension of Justice Torkornoo: The NDC did not make the laws for Ghana – Dr Isaac Tuffour

Dr. Isaac Tuffour, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, has stated on Kessben FM that the actions taken by the government are based on laws that were originally crafted and enacted under the leadership of the NDC.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s political morning show, Dr. Tuffour emphasized that the current constitutional and legal framework guiding the suspension of high-ranking judicial officers, including the Chief Justice, were put in place by the NDC when it was in power.

The suspension of Chief Justice Torkornoo, announced earlier this month amid ongoing investigations, has sparked intense national debate, with some critics questioning whether the move was politically motivated. However, Dr. Tuffour maintained that the rule of law must be upheld regardless of who is affected.

Dr. Tuffour also took the opportunity to challenge those accusing the NDC-led government of acting in bad faith, pointing out that institutions must be allowed to function independently.

While not delving into the specifics of the allegations against Justice Torkornoo, Dr. Tuffour reiterated that the ongoing process must be allowed to continue without interference or politicization.
