Education Ministry To Establish Tvet Universities In Three Outstanding Regions

The Minister for Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed plans of establishing three Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) universities in the three remaining regions that have none.
Hon. Iddrisu indicated that this move seeks to equip the youth with employable skills and boost job creations across the country. He tasked the Governing Board to work assiduously to improve the quality and relevance of TVET to make it an attractive employable venture.
The Minister made the disclosure when he inaugurated an 11-member Governing Board of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) at the Ministry today.
He charged the Commission to introduce innovative programmes to excite the interest of young people to see vocational and technical education as the ultimate rather than an alternative.
“focus more attention on people from the age range of 15 years to 35years, since this range occupies more of the youth who are capable of learning skills easily and by doing this will improve their livelihood by creating jobs for themselves”, the minister admonished.
The chairperson of the Board, Nii Doodo Dodoo, commended the Minister for the initiatives and bold steps to reposition TVET as the ultimate employable venture and assured him of the Commission’s commitment to facilitate the process. He affirmed his commitment to provide strategic guidance and support to reposition TVET education.
