Do what it takes to change a bad narrative from a bad opening balance of your life – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Reverend Vincent Kankam stirred the hearts of many when he urged Ghanaians to confront their pasts and actively rewrite the narrative of their lives, regardless of how negatively things may have begun.
Stressing the payback effect, he challenged individuals to take bold, intentional action to reverse what he described as the “bad opening balance” of their lives.
The respected preacher, known for his dynamic preaching style and practical messages, compared life to financial accounting, saying just as businesses can recover from debt and rise to profit, individuals, too, can rise above early misfortunes or poor decisions.
Rev. Kankam’s words were particularly aimed at the youth, many of whom feel trapped by circumstances beyond their control, such as family background, economic hardship, or societal labels.
The message, titled “Payback Effect: Rewrite Your Life’s Balance Sheet”, has since gone viral on social media, with thousands sharing clips of the sermon and reflecting on how they too can change their personal narratives.
What stood out in Rev. Kankam’s message was the call to personal responsibility. He stressed that while society can be unjust and the past painful, the responsibility to change still lies with the individual.
