Accra Art Centre Fire Brought Under Control 🚒 GNFS personnel work tirelessly to prevent further damage

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a fire outbreak involving multiple wooden structures at the Art Centre opposite National Lotteries in Accra without recording any injuries or fatalities. Investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire, reported at 1820 hours, was at an advanced stage when the Ministries Fire Station crew led by ADO I Tahiru arrived at 1826 hours. Due to the absence of functional fire hydrants, four (4) additional fire engines from Electoral Commission, Accra City, Parliament, and the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters Substation were deployed to support firefighting efforts.

The fire was brought under control by 1900 hours and fully extinguished at 2044 hours. While over 50 wooden structures used for commercial and residential purposes were destroyed along side their contents, firefighters managed to salvage several adjoining structures.
