10 months no pay, Newly recruited teachers picket at GES

Graduated teachers from the 2022 class of Colleges of Education protested outside the Ghana Education Service (GES) headquarters in Accra over months of unpaid salary and delayed staff identity numbers.

The irate stated stated they waited at the GES premises for more than two hours without receiving a response or interaction from officials, despite claiming to have sent a written letter expressing their concerns.

When police arrived and gave the group a three-minute ultimatum to disperse, tensions increased. But when the teachers refused to comply, the officers forcibly removed them.

The demonstrators have promised to step up their actions in spite of the event. On Tuesday, they want to march to Parliament to make their concerns known after submitting a petition to the Ministry of Finance.

David Ofosu Darko, a teacher speaking on Kessben FM Accra said they will not give up until their issues are addressed by the administration.
