NDC Government will soon feel the heat when they start spending, The money they are spending now was budgeted and secured by us – NPP’s Kwasi Kyei

Former Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwasi Kyei, has made bold claims about the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s economic position.

Speaking on Kessben TV’s political talk show, Mr. Kyei stated that the NDC government, which recently took office, is currently riding on the financial allocations and projects planned and funded by the previous NPP administration.

According to Mr. Kyei, the real test for the new government will come when they begin making their own spending decisions and implementing original policies.  “The money they are spending now was budgeted and secured by us. But very soon, they will start feeling the heat when they have to make their own allocations and face the realities of governance.”

Mr. Kyei explained that many of the visible projects and economic activities currently being executed are not new initiatives of the NDC but were approved and funded under the previous NPP leadership. “Let’s be honest,” he added, “when you come into power, it takes time for your budget to pass, your policies to start, and your contracts to mature. What we are seeing now is the tail-end of our planning—not their beginning.”

He warned Ghanaians not to be deceived by what he described as a “false sense of progress,” urging citizens to closely monitor the performance of the new government once their own fiscal year begins in full.

With expectations high for the NDC government to deliver on its campaign promises, Mr. Kyei’s statement serves as both a warning and a challenge. “Time will tell who really has the capacity to lead Ghana,” he said. “When the NDC starts spending money they actually mobilized themselves, then we will see their true economic competence.”
