SAD NEWS: Man dies in attempt to quit beer

According to reports, Misheck Kasoka, age 30, passed away after using a folk remedy intended to help him overcome his alcoholism.

According to the Lusaka Times, Kabompo Central Ward Councillor Victor Muhanga lamented the passing and claimed that Kasoka received the herbs from his family.

In an interview on Wednesday, the Zambian councilman stated that people should refrain from giving herbs to others because of the unknown dosage and components, which make it harmful.

He noted that such fatalities are preventable and that it is awful to lose such a young, active man in this way.

Since herbal remedies have never been a good option for treating drug or alcohol addiction, Mr. Muhanga urged families to learn how to use the counseling services that are offered in hospitals.

A relative of the deceased who was brought in with the plants thought to have killed the deceased has been apprehended and held, according to Kabompo police.

Charles Kapusu has been identified as the deceased’s relative. He lived in Katupisha village in Zambia.
