The NDC has not implemented a single policy that has resulted in Ghana’s current gains – Dr Enoch Acheampong

Dr. Enoch Acheampong, a communication team, member of the NPP has emphasized that the economic improvements Ghana is experiencing are primarily due to the policies and initiatives implemented by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Dr. Acheampong highlighted that the NPP’s strategic debt management, including the implementation of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), played a crucial role in reducing Ghana’s debt-to-GDP ratio.

He noted that the reduction was not a result of new policies by the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government but rather a continuation of the NPP’s fiscal discipline.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, had previously acknowledged the improved debt-to-GDP ratio, attributing it to the NPP’s debt restructuring efforts. Dr. Acheampong concurred, stating that the current administration is benefiting from the groundwork laid by the NPP.

Dr. Acheampong also pointed to Ghana’s robust economic growth as evidence of the NPP’s effective governance. He referenced the 5.7% GDP growth rate achieved in 2024, surpassing the projected 3.1%, as an indicator of the country’s economic resilience.

He further emphasized that the NPP’s policies had positioned the economy for long-term stability, and the current government’s claims of inheriting a weak economy were unfounded.
