Kwabre East MCE demands prosecution of the headmaster who barred BECE candidates from writing the math exam because they owe
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwah, has called for the immediate prosecution of a headmaster who allegedly denied Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates from sitting for their mathematics paper. According to the MCE, the headmaster’s actions are not only unethical but amount to a criminal offense that must not go unpunished.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Hon. Amankwah expressed shock and outrage over the incident, which has sparked public condemnation across the Ashanti Region and beyond.
“What happened is totally unacceptable. Denying innocent students the right to sit for their BECE Maths paper, one of the core subjects, is not just unprofessional. It is criminal,” he asserted. “That headmaster must be investigated and prosecuted.”
The MCE further explained that such actions have serious, life-altering consequences for the affected students, who have spent years preparing for this crucial national exam. “How do you recover from this? What justification can any school authority give to rob students of such an opportunity?” he questioned.
The incident has since gone viral on social media, with many calling for disciplinary and legal action against the headmaster.
Hon. Amankwah emphasized that school authorities are entrusted with the welfare and academic future of children, not to act as gatekeepers to their dreams.
The MCE has reportedly engaged the Municipal Education Directorate to investigate the matter thoroughly. He also hinted at escalating the issue to the Ghana Education Service headquarters and relevant law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability.
