Traditional leadership support fund created to finance preservation of royal archives, rehabilitation of palaces- Mahama

President of Republic of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that the Traditional Leadership Support Fund created under the 2025 budget will finance the preservation of royal archives and rehabilitation of palaces.

According to President Mahama, the fund will also provide logistical support for traditional areas, including the traditional Council.

“ Beyond infrastructure, we are also restoring the dignity and capacity of the traditional chieftaincy institution, the traditional leadership support fund created under the 2025 budget will finance the preservation of royal archives, rehabilitation of palaces and logistical support for traditional areas, including the traditional Council.” President Mahama asserted.

President Mahama recognizes the foundational role of traditional rulers in development and will partner with them.

“ We recognize that traditional, tradition is complimentary to development. Tradition is foundational. This government will not side-line traditional rulers. We’ll partner with you. We’ll listen to your wise counsel. We’ll honor your place in the national architecture. of governance.” He noted.

President Mahama acknowledges the wise leadership of the traditional rulers in promoting peace and reducing tensions across regions.

“You might have seen let me also acknowledge your wise leadership in promoting peace beyond the boundaries of Dagbon. Your quiet interventions in disputes across Mamprusi ,Gonja and the eastern corridor, have helped reduce tensions and avoid escalation and Ghana is faithful to you.” He acknowledged.

President Mahama expresses confidence in the legacy of Yaa Naa II , the chief of Dagbon who is seen as a statesman shaping a more united Ghana.

“As we look ahead, I’m confident that your legacy will stand tall, not only as the King who healed the Bone, but also as a statesman who helped shaped a more united Ghana.” President added.

President Mahama outlined plans in place to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Yaa Naa enskinment, an occasion of national importance. He pledges full support for the celebrations, reflecting the glory and resilience of the Yaa Naa’s reign.

“In the coming months, we’ll work together on commemorating the fifth anniversary of your enskinment, an occasion of national importance, and I pledge the full support of my office to ensure that this celebrating reflects the glory and resilience of your reign.” Mahama mentioned.
