Teachers help in every level of human life, Their condition of service should be better to make them stay in the profession for long – George Akom

Educationist, George Akom has appealed to Ghanaian authorities, calling for improved conditions for teachers across the country.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Akom emphasized the vital role teachers play in shaping society and insisted that more must be done to ensure their comfort and commitment to the profession.

Akom passionately highlighted the fact that no sector of society can function without the input of teachers. From doctors and engineers to politicians and artisans, every individual gains foundational knowledge and skills through the hands of a teacher. He described the teaching profession not only as a career but as a national pillar that supports development and societal growth.

Despite their essential contributions, Akom noted that many teachers in Ghana continue to struggle with inadequate salaries, poor working conditions, lack of recognition, and limited career development opportunities. This, he said, is causing many capable individuals to abandon the profession or become disillusioned.

He called on government authorities, educational policymakers, and civil society to step up and provide better incentives to keep teachers motivated.
