Ghana National Fire Service Sets the Record Straight: No Attempt to Set Fire Tender Ablaze

The Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a press release to clarify reports suggesting that unknown individuals attempted to set the Nkawkaw Fire Tender ablaze. The GNFS categorically stated that these reports are false and misleading.

What Really Happened

According to the GNFS, on June 11, 2025, the Nkawkaw Station received a distress call regarding a fire outbreak at Zaragoza Atta Ne Atta. While en route to the scene, the fire tender got stuck in a muddy portion of the road filled with charcoal. The heat from the engine and exhaust ignited the charcoal, resulting in smoke emission. This was misinterpreted as an attempt to set the fire engine ablaze.

GNFS Response

The GNFS reassured the public of its commitment to responding swiftly, professionally, and efficiently to all emergency calls. Despite the incident, the Mpraeso Fire Tender was quickly dispatched to respond to the fire outbreak.

Conclusion

The GNFS has debunked claims of an attempted attack on the fire tender, attributing the smoke to an accidental ignition of charcoal. The service remains dedicated to serving the public and responding to emergencies.
