“Marital battles are inevitable, If you don’t fight them, your good marriage will collapse” – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Rev. Vincent Kankam, has offered advice on the realities of married life while speaking on his Food for Thought program on Kessben TV/FM.
According to Sofo Kankam, “marital battles are in every marriage,” and refusing to confront these challenges head-on is a sure path to collapse.
Rev. Kankam shared insights drawn from years of counseling experience and biblical teaching. “People often enter marriage thinking love alone will sustain them,” he said. “But the truth is, every lasting marriage is built not just on love, but on a willingness to fight for it, to fight through misunderstandings, frustrations, and even disappointments.”
He emphasized that disagreements and emotional conflicts are not signs of failure in marriage but part of the process of two different individuals learning to live as one.
Rev. Kankam also urged couples to pray and also seek help when needed, advocating for counseling and open communication as tools for healing and growth. “Fighting doesn’t always mean shouting or quarreling,” he clarified. “Sometimes, it means, praying over it, staying at the table when it’s hard, choosing forgiveness, or getting help when things are beyond your control.”
Rev. Vincent Kankam’s words come at a time when divorce rates and marital dissatisfaction are increasingly reported, often fueled by modern-day pressures, unrealistic expectations, and a lack of resilience in relationships.
His practical, faith-based guidance continues to encourage couples to not give up easily, but to see their battles as opportunities for growth and deeper connection.
