BREAKING: Kessben Sports reports Kotoko has appointed Hamza Obeng as new assistant to Zito and head coach for Kotoko Youth side

Asante Kotoko has reportedly appointed Hamzah Obeng as the 2nd assistant coach to first-team manager Abdul Karim Zito, while also taking on the role of head coach for the club’s youth team.
The dual-role appointment signals Kotoko’s renewed focus on long-term development, particularly in building a strong pipeline from the academy to the senior team. Hamzah Obeng, a rising figure in Ghanaian coaching circles, brings with him a reputation for developing young talent and instilling discipline and tactical intelligence in emerging players.
Obeng’s appointment completes a restructured technical team under Zito, who assumed the head coach role earlier this year. With Zito’s vast experience in youth football, having previously managed Ghana’s U-20 national team, the inclusion of Hamzah Obeng is seen as a complementary move aimed at aligning the club’s youth and senior philosophies.
Obeng’s previous coaching stints include roles at lower-tier clubs and youth academies where he gained attention for his eye for talent and tactical acumen. His appointment has been welcomed by sections of the fan base, many of whom have been calling for greater investment in youth development.
With the Ghana Premier League season nearing its end, Obeng is expected to begin work immediately, laying the foundation for the next generation of Porcupine Warriors.
