Unity Cup 2025: ‘Nigeria had a mature team that adapt faster – Coach Otto Addo

Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo has expressed his reasons why his side suffered a 2-1 defeat against Nigeria in the 2025 Unity Cup in London.

The Black Stars trainer further stated the Nigerians had a matured squad compared to his but still picked some positives from the game and hopes for more improvement going forward in the next fixture.

“Like I said, it’s not always easy, especially when we have players who haven’t been together often. I think Nigeria had a more mature team who could adapt faster, and we had problems getting into the duels to press well, but also to defend well” Otto Addo said about his much-changed team.

“The second half was really good I have to say. Though we lost, I’m happy about the second half, we saw some talents… we saw some players really be positive and I’m looking forward to see them again.” Addo told the press

Ghana will lock horns with Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff, while Nigeria face off with Jamaica in the final on Saturday.
