Aris Limassol star player Eric Boakye sets sights on Black Stars call-up

25-year-old right-back for Aris Limassol in Cyprus, Eric Boakye has expressed his ambition to represent Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Boakye revealed that earning a call-up to the Black Stars is a primary goal in his career. He emphasized his commitment to improving his performance and maintaining consistency at the club level to make this aspiration a reality.
Boakye’s football journey began in Kumasi, Ghana, where he played for Asokwa Deportivo. His impressive performances there led to a move to Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia in 2018. During his four-year tenure with Olimpija Ljubljana, Boakye made 94 appearances and scored two goals, contributing to the team’s success in the Slovenian Cup in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons.
In 2022, Boakye transferred to Aris Limassol in Cyprus, where he has since become a key figure in the team’s defense. As of May 2025, he has made 66 appearances and scored three goals for the club. His consistent performances have been instrumental in Aris Limassol’s achievements, including winning the Cypriot First Division title in the 2022-23 season and the Cypriot Super Cup in 2023.
Despite his success in Europe, Boakye remains focused on his ultimate goal of representing Ghana at the international level. He believes that consistent performances at the club level will enhance his visibility and increase his chances of being noticed by the national team selectors. Boakye’s determination and dedication to his craft reflect his deep desire to contribute to the Black Stars’ success on the international stage.
