NPP Asante Akim South Constituency Withdraws from Ahwenepa 95.5 FM Political Shows

The Communication Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Asante Akim South Constituency has announced its withdrawal from participating in political shows on Ahwenepa 95.5 FM, effective immediately. The decision comes after a series of events that have led to a breakdown in the relationship between the party’s communication team and the radio station.

Allegations of Sabotage and Unprofessionalism
According to a letter signed by Yusif Tahiru Adams, Communication Director of the NPP Asante Akim South Constituency, the radio station’s management has been accused of sabotaging the party’s work and driving an agenda that is not in the interest of the party. The letter states that the station’s host, Nana Darkwa, initially indicated that only two members of the party’s communication team met the station’s standards. However, when the party sought to assign representatives to the program, topics were given to the Constituency Secretary, Mr. William Obeng, instead of the Communication Director.

Collusion and Confusion
The letter further alleges that there has been collusion between the radio station’s management and Mr. Obeng, leading to confusion within the party. An example cited was when Antwi Foster, one of the team members deemed “substandard” by the station, was assigned by Mr. Obeng and allowed on the show. This development has undermined the party’s efforts to promote unity and rebuild for power in 2028.

Call for Professionalism and Respect
In light of these developments, the NPP Asante Akim South Constituency has decided to withdraw from participating in Ahwenepa 95.5 FM’s political shows until the right thing is done. The party has urged the station to desist from allowing unauthorized individuals to represent the party on their platform. The party expects a more professional and respectful approach to handling political programming in the future.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: Withdrawal from Participation in Political Shows

I am writing to inform you that the Communication Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
for Asante Akim South Constituency has decided to withdraw from participating in your political
shows, effective immediately.

As you are aware, you recently declared some hard-working members of the Communication
team “‘substandard” and denied them the opportunity to represent the party on your station.
Despite our efforts to resolve the issue, it has become clear that there has been a deliberate
attempt to sabotage our work and drive an agenda that is not in the interest of the party.

The circumstances surounding this development are concerning. Initially, your host, Nana
Darkwa, indicated that only two of our team members met the station’s standards. However,
when we sought to assign representatives to the program, topics were given to the Constituency
Secretary, Mr. William Obeng, instead of myself as the Communication Director. Furthermore, Mr.
Obeng has been allowed to assign representatives to the station’s political shows, including the
very individuals who were previously deemed “substandard.”A typical instance is on Friday, 23rd
May 2025, when Antwi Foster, who was among those you said were substandard and whom you
refused to allow me to assign to the station, was assigned by Wlliam Obeng and allowed on your
show.

This collusion between your station’s management and Mr. Obeng has created confusion within
the party, undermining our efforts to promote unity and rebuild for power in 2028. In light of
this, we have no choice but to withdraw from participating in your political shows until the right
thing is done. We urge you to desist from allowing unauthorized individuals to represent the
Asante Akim South NPP on your station. We expect a more professional and respectful approach
to handling political programming in the future.
Sincerely,

Yusif Tahiru Adams
Communication Director

NPP Asante Akim South Constituency
