NACOC, Customs Officials Seize Tramadol Consignment at Tema Port

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and Customs officials at the Tema Port have made a significant seizure of Tramadol, a controlled substance, exceeding the legally permitted dosage of 100 mg. The consignment, concealed in a 20-foot container, was intercepted on Tuesday at approximately 16:40.

Details of the Seizure

The container, which appeared ordinary for general cargo, was flagged and unstuffed, leading to the discovery of ninety-nine cartons of TRAMAL-X120—a combination of Tramadol and Carisoprodol at 120 mg strength. Some quantity of sisal fiber was also found in the container.

NACOC and Customs Collaboration

The seizure is a result of the collaborative efforts of NACOC and Customs officials to prevent the smuggling of controlled substances into the country. The agencies’ diligence and vigilance have foiled an attempt to import a large quantity of Tramadol, which could have had serious consequences for public health and safety.

Investigation Underway

Further investigations are underway to identify the importer and the source of the consignment. The authorities are working to determine the intended destination of the controlled substances and to bring those responsible to justice.

NACOC’s Commitment to Combating Narcotics Trafficking

The seizure is a testament to NACOC’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and protecting the public from the dangers of controlled substances. The agency will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to prevent the smuggling of narcotics into the country.
