Appoint Abdul Karim Zito as the substantive head coach and find a top class technical director at the end of the season – Fmr Ashanti Regional Supporters Chairman, Obeng Sekyere

Former Asante Kotoko Ashanti Regional Supporters Chairman, Mr. Obeng Sekyere, has made a passionate call on the management of the club to appoint Abdul Karim Zito as the substantive head coach following his current stint as interim coach.
Speaking on Kessben TV, Obeng Sekyere lauded Zito’s impact since stepping in, emphasizing the strong cohesion he has fostered within the team.
Zito, who was originally brought in as Kotoko’s technical director, assumed the role of interim head coach after the dismissal of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum due to poor performance and internal tensions. Despite the turbulent transition, Zito has managed to stabilize the team, earning praise from fans and football pundits alike.
“The way Zito has connected with the boys is something we haven’t seen in a while,” Obeng Sekyere stated. “There’s unity, improved performance, and most importantly, a clear sense of direction on the pitch. He understands Kotoko and what the club stands for. We don’t need to look far, Zito should be given the job permanently.”
While backing Zito as the club’s main coach, Sekyere also stressed the importance of long-term technical planning. He recommended that the club conduct a global search for a world-class technical director at the end of the season to elevate Kotoko’s football philosophy and competitiveness.
Karim Zito is a seasoned figure in Ghanaian football, having previously coached Ghana’s national U-20 and U-17 teams. His deep understanding of youth development and tactical acumen have been highlighted as major assets since he took over the coaching role at Kotoko.
With the season entering its critical final stretch, Kotoko fans and stakeholders will be watching closely to see if the club’s management heeds the call of Obeng Sekyere and many others who believe Zito could be the steady hand Kotoko needs in the dugout.
The Porcupine Warriors are expected to make key decisions regarding their technical setup at the end of the campaign, with the future of the head coach and structural adjustments at the top of the agenda.
