NDC’s 24-Hour Economy Policy Is Not Like The Free SHS Policy of The NPP, Which Didn’t Have A Framework—Frank Otuo Acheampong

Frank Otuo Achanpong, a lecturer and prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team in the Ashanti Region, has emphasized the party’s commitment to a well-structured and sustainable rollout of its proposed 24-hour economy policy.

Speaking on Kessben TV’s Maakye show, Acheampong revealed that a dedicated committee has been established to develop a comprehensive framework guiding the implementation of the initiative. He contrasted this approach with the previous government’s Free SHS policy, which he claimed was launched without a clear framework, leading to the challenges currently being faced.

Acheampong highlighted the recent donation of 60 pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service by Interior Minister Hon. Muntaka Mubarak as evidence of the government’s readiness to support the 24-hour economy with the necessary security infrastructure. The vehicles, assembled locally by Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, are expected to enhance the Police Service’s capacity to provide continuous security, especially for businesses operating beyond traditional working hours.

He noted that security remains a cornerstone of the 24-hour economy vision, and investments like these demonstrate the NDC’s proactive planning. Achanpong added that the party’s approach is deliberately thorough to prevent the pitfalls of rushed policy execution.

Concluding his remarks, he urged Ghanaians to support the 24-hour economy initiative, expressing strong optimism that, with proper planning and execution, the policy will manifest and significantly boost economic productivity and job creation across the country.
