Story By Michael Ofosu-Afriyie, Kumasi

Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ejisu Constituency has in a prompt response to pleas from Headmistress and students in the Onwe Senior High School supplied 200 dual and mono desks to the school.

The presentation by the MP comes just a week when this reporter drew the attention of duty bearers and the public to the plight of form 1 students at the school.

Before this gesture by the MP, some students in the Form 1 class in the school were seen standing for lessons in class.

Others who could not stand were seen either bending over their colleagues who were seated or squatting to take lessons from tutors.

Earlier Issues:
Staff and students in the school during a tour showed signs of frustration at the situation.

A staff told this reporter that due to the worrying situation some students had been absenting themselves from lessons at school.

Others, the staff added had become truant and were choosing days they wanted to be in school.

A parent who spoke to this reporter in anonymity said he was contemplating taking his ward from the school 🏫.

Relief:
However during the visit by this reporter to the school this morning, some of tbe form 1 students expressed happiness at what they were witnessing as carpenters were seen working on the desks on campus.

A student told this reporter that he was happy that his friends who had stopped schooling due to the unavailability of desks would return.

Some of the students who had learnt about tbe benevolent act by the MP commended him for the gesture.

“We are grateful to our MP, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng for showing profuse concern and helping us to get these desks to use for our studies”, one student stated.
