“An Unfortunate Act Of Indiscretion”: Sammy Gyamfi Criticized Over Viral ‘Dollar’ Video
A recent video circulating online has shown the Acting CEO of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi offering several dollar bills to controversial fetish priestess-turned-preacher, Nana Agradaa.
The video has received major backlash from all sides of the political spectrum, especially as the President has recently unveiled the code of conduct for all government and political appointees.
In the code, appointees are given some rules to adhere to concerning receiving of gifts and a general display of wealth in a bid to encourage public accountability and integrity.
In this viral video, Nana Agradaa is heard requesting for some dollars Sammy Gyamfi’s vehicle, which he didn’t hesitate to hand to her moments later. She proceeded to display the bills to on-lookers.
The gesture has been criticized across the political divide, with many pointing out the contradiction of the President’s message and the actions of his appointees.
In trying to defuse the situation, Sammy Gyamfi resorted to the ‘X’ platform(formerly known as Twitter), to share the rationale behind the video and the corresponding actions.
In his statement, he said that this act was one of the things he did in keeping up with a daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need.
The statement read, “I have taken notice of the wave of criticism against my person in the last 24 hours. To clarify, this was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being, in line with my daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need.”
“I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space. That is unfortunate and regrettable,” he wrote.
He acknowledged the disapproval from his own supporters and those in opposition.
“I understand the uproar that this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by same. To all such comrades, I am sincerely sorry for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views,” he stated.
Even though some political commentators have hinted at a possible disciplinary action for Sammy Gyamfi, it is still unclear what the next decision of the President will be concerning the issue.
