Appreciation of the Cedi is Mahama’s Doing — TD Rogers Fires Back at Minority Leader

TD Rogers, policy analyst and a member of the NDC’s national communications team, has taken a swipe at recent claims by the Minority Leader regarding the appreciation of the cedi, describing them as “preposterous and disappointing.”

Speaking on Maakye on Kessben TV this morning, Mr. Rogers expressed shock at the Minority Leader’s attempt to discredit the current administration’s role in stabilizing the economy.
“Why would such an educated lawyer and Member of Parliament make such a loose statement? Is it that the Honorable Minister does not read or that his research team fails to provide him with the facts?” he questioned.

Rogers argued that global trade tensions—particularly the U.S.–China trade war—have complicated currency markets, yet under President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana has seen a marked improvement in its currency performance.

“President Mahama, together with his Finance Minister Ato Forson and the Economic Management Team, made deliberate moves to bring stability. Why not give credit where it’s due?”
TD Rogers did not hold back in criticizing the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of financial mismanagement even within their own ranks.

“NPP has openly admitted they cannot pay their workers. How then can they be trusted to manage the national economy? That alone is enough evidence of incompetence,” he stated.
He assured Ghanaians that the NDC is committed to ensuring the country doesn’t revert to the “economic chaos” it experienced under the NPP.

“We will not put the nation back into the hands of the NPP—no, that would not happen,” he declared.
Mr. Rogers also highlighted concrete progress under the 24-hour economy policy, one of the key campaign promises of the Mahama administration.

He revealed that the Passport Office has now begun operating on a 24-hour schedule and a backlog of unprinted driver’s licenses, which piled up under the previous government, is now being cleared thanks to extended service hours. “This shows that a government that is serious and working for the people has arrived,” he added.
