Good News Hit Kumasi: KMA Boss Richard Ofori Agyemang (King Zuba) announces plans for Street Market from Kejetia to Adum to all hustlers & sellers

Richard Ofori Agyemang, popularly known as King Zuba, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has unveiled plans to establish a new street market stretching from Kejetia to Adum. This initiative aims to accommodate traders affected by the ongoing decongestion exercises in Kumasi’s Central Business District (CBD).
The KMA has been actively implementing decongestion measures to alleviate the severe traffic congestion and pedestrian overcrowding in areas such as Kejetia, Adum, and Dr. Mensah. These areas have long been characterized by unauthorized street trading, which obstructs walkways and disrupts vehicular movement. Despite previous relocation efforts to markets like Afia Kobi and Race Course, many traders have returned to the streets, leading to persistent congestion issues
To provide a sustainable solution, King Zuba, speaking on Kessben FM announced plans to establish a designated street market along the stretch from Kejetia to Adum. This market will offer a regulated space for vendors, ensuring that trading activities are organized and do not impede traffic or pedestrian movement. The initiative aims to balance the needs of traders with the city’s urban planning objectives, creating a more orderly and efficient CBD.
The success of this initiative will depend on active collaboration between the KMA, traders, and other stakeholders. King Zuba emphasized the importance of dialogue and consultation to address the concerns of all parties involved. By working together, the KMA aims to create a trading environment that supports economic activities while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors in Kumasi.
