“We’re coming up with an initiative to bring developmental projects without relying on state funds” – Odotobri MP, Hon. Anthony Mmieh

Member of Parliament for Odotobri, Hon. Anthony Mmieh, has announced an ambitious and forward-thinking approach to constituency development,  one that aims to ease the burden on central government resources.

Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM, the MP revealed that he and his team are currently devising strategies to implement development projects within the Odotobri Constituency using alternative funding sources, rather than relying solely on state allocations.

“We are working on innovative initiatives to develop Odotobri without waiting on state funds,” Hon. Mmieh stated. “The needs of our people are immediate, and while we appreciate what government provides, we also want to take responsibility and create additional avenues to bring progress to our communities.”

The lawmaker did not disclose full details of the upcoming initiatives but hinted at plans involving public-private partnerships, community-led projects, and possibly diaspora engagement to pool resources for infrastructure, education, and livelihood support in the constituency.

Hon. Mmieh’s approach is a direct response to the growing demand for faster development at the grassroots level. Many MPs and local leaders across Ghana face delays in receiving state funds or are limited by bureaucracy when it comes to executing timely projects.

“We want to build a model in Odotobri that shows what can happen when a community comes together around leadership and purpose. Whether it’s schools, roads, water systems, or jobs, we are not waiting,” he emphasized.

With economic pressures mounting nationwide, this kind of innovation at the constituency level may not only ease the strain on government budgets but also empower local populations to take an active role in shaping their futures.
