Africom boss reminds Mahama of “Bawku Military base” promise

The President of the United States Africa Command, Ghana (AFRICOM), Mr. Abednego Orstin Rawlings, has indicated that he will surely remind His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, to implement all his promises to Ghanaians, including the establishment of a Bawku Military base.
According to him, establishing a military base can resolve the Bawku conflict easily.
“Ghana is spending a lot of money on internal security, much more than establishing a Military Command or Base there, which was promised Ghanaians by the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential candidate, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, in the just-ended Ghana’s general election, which he won with a wide margin.
He explained that the aggressive attitude of some youth groups in the conflict zone requires a robust military response.
Mr Ortsin pointed out that if the current government does not handle the situation well, the political ramifications will be dire.
Mr. Rawlings advised that President Mahama use this opportunity to fulfill the election 2024 campaign promises by establishing the Military Command in Bawku to end the protracted conflict.
