Tragedy in Nyinahin: Eyewitness Recounts Fatal Shooting by Military Personnel

A peaceful funeral procession turned violent on Thursday when a confrontation between military personnel and local youth led to the fatal shooting of one man leaving several others injured.

According to an eyewitness account shared on Kessben TV’s Maakye Morning Show, the youth of Nyinahin were on their way to the cemetery to bury a colleague when they encountered a group of armed soldiers.

The tension reportedly began when the soldiers attempted to seize one of the mourners who was dressed in military-style camouflage attire.

Concerned that the young man might be subjected to military brutality, the youth resisted the soldiers’ attempt to take him away.

This resistance quickly escalated into a misunderstanding between the soldiers and the group.

In response, the military personnel began firing warning shots, prompting chaos. The youth, in retaliation, threw stones at the soldiers’ vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the young man was shot in the head during the confrontation, leading to his instant death, with three others injured and receiving medical treatment in the hospital.

The parents of the deceased are believed to reside in Anloga in the Ashanti Region. They have since been informed of the incident and are reportedly making their way to Nyinahin.

The incident has sparked widespread concern in Nyinahin.
