Asante Kotoko to pay a total sum of $36,000 to dismissed coach, Ogum.

Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko are set to pay a total compensation of $36,000 to their recently dismissed head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, following the termination of his contract earlier this month.
According to sources close to the club and confirmed by Kessben Sports, the total amount includes $20,000 in unpaid salary arrears, representing five months of salary owed to the coach, as well as a $16,000 severance package stipulated in his contract.
Dr. Ogum, who returned for a second stint with the Porcupine Warriors in 2023 amid high expectations, failed to meet the club’s performance targets this season, leading to his abrupt dismissal. However, the decision has not come without financial consequences for the club.
Breakdown of Compensation:
-
Salary Arrears (5 months): $20,000
-
Severance Package: $16,000
-
Total: $36,000
This is not the first time Kotoko have had to pay significant sums in compensation to a departing coach. The club has in recent years developed a reputation for frequent managerial changes, often resulting in financial settlements that strain their resources.
Dr. Ogum’s previous stint with Kotoko in 2021 ended on a high note, having led the club to a league title. However, his second tenure failed to replicate that success, with the team struggling to find consistency on the pitch.
