Manso Adubia residents bemoan of bad road leading to excessive robbery on their roads

Residents of Manso Adubia have lamented over the state of roads in the area, which have enabled miscreants to commit all sorts of crime, most predominantly, armed robbery.

The inhabitants of the town, speaking to Kessben TV, recounted horror stories of robbers hijacking vehicles on the roads and stealing huge sums of money and goods meant for the market.

The traders, who are mostly elderly women, are often harassed by these robbers before their market goods and monies are forcefully taken from them. The Assembly member of the Adubia electoral area, in conversation  on the Maakye show, reported how the robbers(sometimes armed) go about their operations.

“They hide in the bushes by the untarred road and catch the drivers and passengers off guard. The bad roads do not help matters, as they cause the drivers to slow down, making it easy to be stopped abruptly by robbers.” He reported.

This same situation is encountered in another major part of Kumasi; the South Junction and Palmar International School stretch. The road has been left untarred for over a year now.

Unknown people have taken advantage of this to block some parts of the road without any prior notice to the residents or users of those roads. A report on Kessben TV showed how large blocks were used as a blockade at a junction that leads to Palmar International School.

In addition to this, the residents and workers around that stretch struggle to step out very early in the day to go about their businesses, due to fear of bumping into armed robbers. The residents recounted how some people were caught unawares and robbed in the early hours of the day.

Bismark Asamoah Mensah, a resident of Manso Adubia and a victim of robbery on that road, advised that the traders keep their large monies in the bank and through digital means to prevent being robbed and harassed at the same time.
Stakeholders and leaders in charge of roads and community developments were called upon to address these pressing issues and rectify them to prevent any further damages.
