Government Must Prioritize Key Issues in Agriculture – Former Deputy Agric Minister

Former Deputy Agric Minister, Hon. Frimpong Addo, accused the current government of focusing solely on rebranding instead of working on important projects.
He expressed his disappointment, especially with the GHS 200 million set aside for irrigation development in the recent budget presented in Parliament.
He describes it as grossly inadequate given the scale of the country’s agricultural needs.
Speaking on the phone during the Maakye morning show on Kessben TV, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo described the initiative as lacking a clear roadmap and failing to address the core challenges confronting the agricultural sector.
The program “Operation Feed Ghana,” set to be launched on Saturday, April 12, in Techiman, has come under heavy criticism, with many calling for impactful action rather than just name changes.
He believes that without a detailed strategy and broad stakeholder engagement, the programme is just a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.
As preparations continue for Saturday’s launch in Techiman, the former deputy minister’s strong critique adds to growing concerns about whether Operation Feed the Country will deliver real and lasting solutions.
