Let us extend kindness to orphans, widows, the unemployed, and elderly – Muslims told

President John Dramani Mahama has admonished all muslims to exude kindness to the less privileged, such as orphans, widows, the unemployed, and the elderly.

He believes that this act is not only an Islamic duty but it is also a national obligation.

Speaking at the Eid – ul- Fitr celebration held in Accra on 31st March, 2024, he argued that Ramadan period is not about the abstinence of food and drink only, but is a season to express kindness to one another.

“One of the core teachings of Islam is the importance of charity, kindness, and giving. Zakat Sadaqah reminds us that true wealth is not measured by how much we accumulate but by how much we give to help those in need. As we celebrate eid, let us not forget our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate and are struggling, such as orphans, widows, the unemployed, and the elderly.

“Indeed, when we leave her after Salah, everyone should look for an orphan or a widow, an elderly person, and show them and act of kindness. That is what Ramadan is about. Let us carry on our acts of kindness that Ramadan inspires and let us reach out to those in greatest need. This is not only an Islamic duty, but it is also a national responsibility. Because a nation that cares for his vulnerable is a nation that will always be blessed by Allah, ” he stressed.

He thus entreated the youths to embrace education and to be equipped with the relevant skills to be able to thrive in the digital transforming world.
