You are expected to ensure that district assemblies receive the “necessary resources”- Mahama tells newly DACF administrator

John Dramani Mahama, the president of the Republic has outlined some expectations from Michael Harry Yamson, the new administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
According to him, Mr Yamson is to prioritize financial discipline, operational efficiency and enhanced transparency.
He is also to ensure that district assemblies receive the necessary resources to accelerate grassroot development, and enhance service delivery.
“Now, his responsibilities. As administrator of the district assemblies common fund, Mr Yamson. You will be expected to prioritize financial discipline, operational efficency, and enhanced transparency.
“You are to ensure that the fund will implement accountability driven processes, ensuring that district assemblies receive the necessary resources to accelerate grassroot development and enhance service delivery across the country” he underscored.
Addressing the media at the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Harry on 2th March, 2024, he said the government remains resolute strengthening local governance.
“It is with this understanding that in the 2025 budget, we have made a firm commitment to remitting at least 80 per cent of these year’s allocations directly to the districts. By strengthening the financial autonomy of district assemblies, we are not only reinforcing the constitutional principle of decentralization and equitable development, but we are also ensuring that communities across Ghana receive the resources they need to drive economic growth, infrastructural expansion and essential public services.
“My government is committed to instituting robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that the Fund allocations are used effectively and transparently” he added.
