Strengthening Regional Ties: Ghana Commits to Enhanced Partnership with ECOWAS to Address Security Challenges – John Mahama

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama says Ghana is on the verge of strengthening its partnership with ECOWAS, African Union, and other international allies to address security challenges.

According to him, Ghana has been noted for a beacon of peace in West Africa and beyond, highlighting the need for a swift conflict resolution in conflict zones.

Delivering a speech at the swearing-in ceremony of Ghana Armed Forces Council members, he pointed out the pivotal role of the Armed forces in peace keeping.

“Ghana has long been a beacon of peace in West Africa and beyond. Our armed forces have played a significant role in regional and international peacekeeping operations. Working alongside global partners to restore stability in many conflict zones.

Our commitment to regional security cooperation remain strong and as a nation, we will continue to strengthen our partnerships with our regional bodies such as ECOWAS, and the African Union as well as our international allies to collectively address security challenges that affect not just Ghana, but the entire globe” Mr. Mahama stressed.

He thus, called on the Armed Forces Council to redouble their efforts in positioning Ghana’s military as a premier force in global peacekeeping initiatives.

“The Armed forces Council must work to deepen these engagements ensuring that Ghana’s military remains at the forefront of peace keeping, counter terrorism and cross border security initiatives” he charged.

He further admonished the council to ensure the maintenance of highest ethical standards, transparency and accountability within the military.
