“Don’t follow Nyash & materialistic women who are after properties, Marry women who want future with you” – Legendary Emmanuel Ampiah advises footballers

Emmanuel Ampiah, a former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko defender, has shared valuable life advice for footballers, urging them to marry women who are genuinely interested in building a future with them, rather than those who are materialistic and only after their wealth.
Speaking with Tony Muntana in an interview with Kessben TV, Ampiah reflected on his own personal experiences and cautioned young athletes about the dangers of marrying for the wrong reasons.
Having enjoyed a successful career both domestically and internationally, Ampiah is no stranger to the temptations that come with fame and fortune. The former Black Stars player revealed that he was once pursued by women who were primarily interested in his material possessions and not in a genuine relationship. He used his own life as an example to shed light on the importance of choosing a partner who values true companionship and shared dreams over superficial wealth.
In the interview, Ampiah emphasized that many footballers, especially those in their prime, are often surrounded by individuals who may have ulterior motives. He explained that while it’s natural for footballers to receive attention because of their status, it is important to remain cautious about the people they let into their personal lives. According to Ampiah, some women are only interested in the financial benefits that come with being associated with a wealthy footballer, and once those benefits are no longer available, the relationship often deteriorates.
He shared his own experiences of being approached by women who showed interest in his material wealth rather than his personality or vision for the future.
“I’ve had women try to come after my properties. When they see the success and the money, they think it’s all about that. But it’s important to realize that true love isn’t about what you have, it’s about who you are and what you can build together in the future. As a footballer, you have to marry someone who is interested in your journey, who will be with you during the highs and lows, and who believes in your future, not just in the present,” he advised.
“Marry someone who will stand by you when things are tough, not just when you’re at the top of your game,” Ampiah continued. “It’s the only way to ensure that your relationship will stand the test of time. Those who are only after your material possessions won’t be there when things change.”
