If Kumawood gets good investors, We will do better works than Hollywood – Lil Win

Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has boldly stated that Kumawood, the vibrant and ever-growing movie industry in the Ashanti Region, can produce better works than Hollywood if given solid investment.
Lil Win, who is a major figure in Kumawood, shared his thoughts on the current state of the industry and the improvements that could be made if the right investors and resources were injected into the sector. According to him, Kumawood has the talent, creativity, and a deep connection with local audiences, but what it lacks most is the financial backing that can elevate it to international standards.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Krenkren to Krankran with DJ KA, Lil Win highlighted that Kumawood has been able to make a significant impact with its unique style, storytelling, and relatable content. However, he believes that the industry’s potential remains untapped without substantial investment. He emphasized that if investors took Kumawood seriously and poured resources into it, the industry would be capable of creating films that could compete with the best in the world.
One of the major challenges that Kumawood faces is a lack of adequate funding to produce high-quality films. Many films in the industry are often made on shoestring budgets, limiting the possibilities for exceptional production value. Lil Win suggested that with the right investors, the industry could tap into a global market, attracting attention from film festivals, international distributors, and a broader audience.
Beyond the financial aspect, he pointed out that investment in the local talent pool is also essential. Kumawood has an abundance of skilled actors, directors, writers, and other film professionals who are capable of creating high-quality content. However, they often lack access to advanced training or equipment that could help refine their skills to international standards.
