Honoring Ghana’s Heroes: A Call to Action

Today, February 28, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s history. It’s a day to remember the bravery and sacrifice of Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey, who fought against colonialism and paved the way for Ghana’s independence.
Seventy-seven years ago, Ghana’s forebears decided to take a stand against colonialism, demanding justice and equality. Among them were ex-servicemen who had fought for the British in World War II, only to be met with brutal force and oppression. The sacrifices of these heroes, including Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey, will never be forgotten.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) commends the successive governments for honoring these heroes in various ways. However, the CPP makes a humble call to the State to take further action. They appeal to the government to maintain the graves of these heroes, cater to their direct descendants, and renovate their family houses to serve as tourist sites.
Furthermore, the CPP suggests a posthumous promotion for these heroes, recognizing their exceptional bravery and sacrifice. This gesture would be a fitting tribute to their memory and a reminder of the importance of their contributions to Ghana’s independence.
As Ghanaians celebrate this significant milestone, the CPP wishes all citizens the best, urging everyone to continue working together to build a haven of freedom, justice, and prosperity for all. Long live our heroes, and long live Ghana!
