There should be a law in Ghana to deal with Governments that abandon projects of outgone governments – Wofa Kofi

Wofa Kofi Appiah, host of the popular Kessben FM’s Morning Show, has said there should be a law that would hold governments accountable for abandoning the projects initiated by their predecessors.
Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of the show he said the perennial cycle of new administrations starting fresh projects while abandoning those left by outgoing governments is not only inefficient but also detrimental to the country’s progress. He argues that this practice is often fueled by political motivations, with incoming governments eager to kickstart new projects in order to gain personal and financial benefits through kickbacks.
Wofa Kofi Appiah emphasized the need for the Ghanaian government to put in place stringent laws that would compel each new administration to continue and complete projects started by the previous government. He lamented that rather than building on the progress of their predecessors, governments often abandon critical infrastructure and social development projects, leading to wasted resources and missed opportunities.
His concerns come at a time when several projects initiated by previous governments remain incomplete or stalled for years, despite having significant potential to benefit the public. The discontinuation of these projects, he argues, is part of a larger pattern of political rivalry that detracts from the country’s long-term development goals.
He further criticized the habit of starting new projects, which, according to him, often involve deals with financial kickbacks for certain individuals within the administration. Appiah called for more transparency in how government contracts are awarded and for measures to ensure that projects serve the public good rather than personal interests.
