The IGP should be sacked, Annoh Dompreh should by now have been arrested – Akua Piesie, Kessben FM’s Journalist calls for Annoh Dompreh’s arrest

Kessben FM’s Akua Piesie has called for the immediate arrest of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri. Piesie also made a bold statement in which she demanded the sacking of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for failing to take action against Dompreh despite his inflammatory remarks.

The call for action follows a recent comment made by Annoh-Dompreh that has sparked outrage across the political spectrum. In a public statement, the MP allegedly stated that if a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) witnesses a fellow party member fighting an opponent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), they should join in and beat up the NDC person. This controversial remark, according to Piesie, represents incitement to violence and is a dangerous rhetoric that undermines the peace and stability of the country.

“An MP should never be encouraging violence, especially in a charged political environment,” Piesie stated, expressing her disbelief over the comments. “His words are reckless and send the wrong message to his supporters. If this kind of behavior is not checked, it could lead to serious violence during the election period.”

Piesie, known for his candid opinions, has demanded swift action in response to Dompreh’s inflammatory statement. He argued that the comment made by the MP is not only reckless but also a direct call to violence, which could escalate political tensions in the country.

Piesie emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting that public figures, especially elected officials, have a responsibility to uphold the law and promote peaceful discourse. “It’s appalling that a sitting MP, someone entrusted with the responsibility to represent the people and promote unity, would encourage violence,” he added.

Alongside his call for Annoh-Dompreh’s arrest, Akua Piesie has also called for the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, from his position. According to Piesie, the IGP’s failure to act swiftly in this case is indicative of a broader problem with law enforcement in Ghana, particularly when it comes to holding powerful political figures accountable.

Piesie is not alone in his frustration with the current state of policing and accountability in the country. Many Ghanaians have voiced their concerns about the police’s handling of politically motivated incidents, particularly when the individuals involved hold influential positions in government.
